A few minutes ago, I listened to the world premiere of The Gaslight Anthem’s new track 45. Suffice it to say that it’s the only thing that’s happened in a while that’s made me excited enough to blog.

Despite their popularity, The Gaslight Anthem are still massively under rated to me. Everyone should know and respect what they do because they bring something to the fore front that is just absent elsewhere.

I dunno how much I can say about the song after one listen, especially when I spent most of it just staring wide-eyed at my hi-fi and at Jamie because I was that amazed by Brian’s voice (as always) and everything that Gaslight bring to the table every time.

The release of Handwritten (which is still too far away for my liking) is one of the things keeping me really excited about music and 45 honestly seems to just be the taster. I don’t have enough words to express how hearing that for the first time made me feel. It’s something I probably haven’t felt since hearing Hills and Valleys by The Rocket Summer by the first time, or the first time that I heard Looking Up by Paramore- both of which were two plus years ago.

Big thanks to Brian and the boys for keeping me in love with music. Everyone needs to hear this.

Come to the conclusion, I know precisely one person (family not included, coz my family are amazing) who is kind, loving, generous and to be quite honest, the most selfless person in the universe.
